Curriculum Director Ann Gillinger visited the Permanent Exhibition of ARTS OF NATIVE AMERICA including Californian basketry and steatite carvings at the Bowers Museum.
Although no student selected
basketry
(Ca Indian Library Collection) as a topic, this is an excellent collection and should be included whenever California Indians are studied.
An additional benefit of this visit was the discovery of the outstanding VISION OF THE SHAMAN, SONG OF THE PRIEST permanent exhibition which should be included in the middle school seventh grade curriculum!
